Our Christmas "North Pole Express" cake came out well. You have to use a product like Wilton's Cake Release to get the cake out properly. Use the spray version for best results. Also, use enough batter - I believe it calls for 9 cups. You may have to use a knife to trim the excess off before removing the cake from the pan, but all the details will be included that way. It would probably be impossible to use store bought icing or homemade buttercream to ice all the details but piping just some of the details will work well or you can pour a glaze over it and then ice some color on. You can also use fondant and "paint" it.

I used this pan at Christmas to make gingerbread trains for my friends. I found that baker's joy helped make it slip out of the pan with no problem. Great detail although some of the smaller parts on the top and the front of the train didn't fill all the way.

Heavily weighted and baked evenly. It's PERFECT and well made. I enjoyed using it to make a train cake for my son's third birthday but know that we'll be getting more uses out of it! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product.
