It took me 3 attempts to get this cake right. The first time I made a traditional yellow cake that fell apart when I turned it out of the pan. The second time, I tried to make a pound cake. I cooked it for almost an hour and it was burnt on the outside and undercooked in the inside and was not edible. The third time, I finally got it right. This is what you have to do...Make sure that you use crisco and grease and flour the pan just like the directions say. It is better to use a dense cake. Traditional yellow cake recipes made with cake flour will probably be to light. When you bake the cake, disregard the directions that come with the pan. The instructions that come with the pan say to bake at 350 for 30 min but this will NOT work. Your cake will be ruined. Instead, do the following...1. Lower the temperature to 325 instead of 350.2. Bake the cake on one rack down from the center of your oven.3. Increase the cooking time. It will take 45-60 min or more.4. Increase the amount of time that the cake cools in the pan to 30min.I have always loved sunflowers, and this is a very pretty cake once it is decorated. Just follow my suggestions, and it will turn out fine.

I wasn't sure what the size would be, but the size of this Sunflower pan was perfect for serving my family for our fall BBQ gathering of 12. My family members get excited when I use my Wilton shaped pans for special occasions and gatherings, so I look forward to picking out more fun shapes.

I bought this for my cousin's sunflower themed bridal shower. It is smaller than I thought it would be (about 12 inches round). It is also not very thick (2 1/2 inches), but for the theme it is perfect!
